on the Galle Road. At Kumarakanda Junction take the road to your left (landside
/ east). The landmark at Kumarakanda is an
old brilliant white temple built on top of an rock. From Kumarakanda Junction
a three wheeler (tuk tuk) costs 60 rupees to Serene Lake. If you have made a reservation
please telephone Serene Lake and we will send you a tuk tuk. Contacting us before
hiring a tuk tuk will help you avoid price gouging. The
road heading west is the Elpitiya Road. Proceed along the Elpitiya road to for
1.75 kilometers. The entrance to Berathuduwa
road is about 500 meters before the 2 kilometer marker. At one point the will
pass through an area with paddy fields on either side of the Elpitiya road. About
1000 meters after that there is a tarred road to your right, with a small paddy
field adjoining the road. This Berathuduwa Road, and should have a sign indicating
Serene Lake. Proceed along Berathuduwa Road until it divides into three. The middle
road leads to Serene Lake. The final 500 meter approach
to Serene Lake is along the Dodanduwa Lagoon and through
mangroves.
